Our Mission

Toitū te marae a Tāne-Mahuta, Toitū te marae a Tangaroa, Toitū te tangata. —Māori proverb
If the land is well and the sea is well, the people will thrive.

The intent of this publication is to inform readers about how complex environmental issues actually are and bridge the communication gap between scientists, the public and policymakers.

Environmental conservation is much more than what appears on the surface—behind every issue is a cohort of interconnected, deep-rooted social, political and economic concerns as well. Our goal is to highlight these factors and have its readers consider things they may have not before.

We offer a platform to young people with a STEM or social science background to write well researched and referenced environmental stories.
